The common man's car maker Maruti Suzuki has introduced its new mid-size sedan Dzire recently in India. Now this new Dzire is completely different in look than its predecessors. The car looks bold and stylish than ever. It is the first ever GNCAP 5-Star rated vehicle from Maruti in India. Price of the base LXI variant starts at Rs.6.79 lakh and goes up to Rs.10.14 lakh for the top end ZXi+ AGS variant.
The long bonnet looks stylish and powerful. LED headlamps and DRLs are provided. Fog lamps are well integrated on the lower bumper. Lower lip provided on the bumper making it more muscular from the front.
The car is provided with 15 inch alloy wheels, which looks good. However, the spare wheel provided is in steel with 14 inch size, having a speed limit of 80 km/h, which is clearly marked on the spare wheel.
It is a beautiful car from the rear side too. Tri-arrow LED tail lamps and chrome bar are looking good. A small spoiler is provided on the boot lid enhancing its style. Shark fin antenna is provided. Defogger is provided on the rear wind shield. But what disappoints is its boot space, Dzire having a boot capacity of 382 liters, which is less than any vehicle of its segment. You can also find some cost cutting inside the boot lid, the electric wires passing through the lid are exposed and are not properly covered.
The new Dzire comes with an all-new cabin with dual tone interior. You will get a nine inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 360 degree camera and music system are integrated with this system.
Flat bottom steering wheel adopted from the new Swift is looking stylish with the beige interior of the Dzire. Cruise control and audio telephony switches are provided on it. Analog speedo meter and RPM counter are provided on the driver instrument cluster. A small MID is also provided on the middle of the speedometer and RPM counter dials.
For the convenience, climatronic A/c and wireless mobile charging pad are provided. Apart from this wireless charger, you will get a 12V charger and a C type charging port at front. Also you will get a C type and a USB charging ports for rear passengers. Bottle holders are provided on all four doors. But what lacks is the driver arm rest.
Seats fabric are also in beige colour. Front seats are very comfortable, but it is not up to the mark of Baleno, which is having more comfortable front seats than the Dzire. Also note that Maruti is not provided ventilated seats even in its top end variant at least as an option, is a huge miss.
The rear seat of the Dzire is also very good. Very good cushioning is provided, but it could have given a little more under thigh support for an added comfort on long journeys. Seat reclining is also good. Centre arm rest with two cup holders is provided. Three people can sit here but only two headrests are provided. You will get the same leg room as in the previous version whereas a little more head room is made available with this new version of the Dzire. A/c vents are also available for rear passengers.
Electrically operated sun roof is now available with the new Dzire is a first in segment feature. Overall the Dzire comes with a very practical and spacious cabin.

Engine and Transmission
The new Dzire comes with a next gen 1.2L Z-series petrol engine, with max.power output of 81.58Ps @ 5700 rpm and having the torque figure of 111.7Nm @ 4300 rpm. This petrol engine variant is available with a 5-speed manual and AMT or AGS transmission options. Maruti is claiming 25.71km/l for the AGS version and 24.79km/l for manual variant. The manual variant of the car can log 0-100km/h speed in 13 seconds. The AMT gear box is always known for its sluggishness but with the new Dzire, the gear box feels lot more smooth in city and on highway cruise. It is a perfect gearbox for city driving conditions and for a calm highway cruise. Moreover, the Dzire is not made for an enthusiastic driving experience. It is a very practical family Sedan.
Safety
This new Dzire is a 5-star rated car by the GNCAP. It has scored full 5 stars for adult and has scored 4 stars in child occupant safety. In conclusion, the Dzire is a very nice and beautiful sub four-meter sedan. It is the safest vehicle from Maruti with 5-star safety rating from GNCAP. Dzire is available in Manual and Automatic variants and having a very decent mileage. The CNG version of the car is promising 30 plus km/kg mileage is a very attractive option for a mileage conscious customer. After all it is from the house of Maruti and so there is no second opinion about the engine reliability and aftersales service and support, which ensures a hazzle free ownership experience. Definitely you can consider this new Dzire if you are in search of a family sedan.
