MG HECTOR/HECTOR PLUS

M.G Hector is always known for futuristic design,features and for its build quality. Recently MG has introduced a facelifted version of the Hector. The price of the vehicle starts at Rs.14.73 Lakh ex-showroom for the base STYLE variant and goes up to Rs.22.43 Lakh for the range toping SAVVY Pro variant. Let's look it in details..

From the exterior, it looks very stylish and it's a large car in size. It is a 4.69meter long vehicle. You can feel that road presence in the first look itself. What differentiate the car mostly over the previous version is its new updated diamond mesh grille. Really, this grille with the DRLs and projector headlamps are making the car very bold and attractive from the front.

The car is provided with 18 inch alloy wheels. Wheel arches are fixed with black cladding. Body coloured door handles are provided and the ORVMs are fixed with turn indicators. Roof rails and shark finn antenna are provided. All of these things are making the car beautiful from sides. Also you can feel that huge 2,750 mm wheelbase of the new Hector from the sides.

At the rear, you can find the beautifully designed tail lamp. MG logo and Hector badging are very prominent on the boot lid. It's a powered tail gate and the opening height can be adjusted from the infotainment system of the Hector. The Hector having a boot space of 587 liters with 5-seater variants whereas it is very minimal with the 6/7 seater variants. However,the boot space can be expanded by folding the third row and second row seats of the vehicle.

The real wonder awaits inside the Hector. It's a technology packed vehicle in all sense. When you step into the car, you will be welcomed by a beautifully designed interior and the large 14 inch infotainment system of the Hector. 

The system houses 75+ connected and several safety features. It can operate almost everything inside the car with the voice command, which includes A/c fan speed, ambient lighting, navigation, sunroof open/close, volume control etc.

Now at the driver side also you will get a full digital display, which is also very sharp and clear. The Hector also features Bluetooth Key Sharing function. It is a Virtual Key that enables the owner to operate the car without the physical one. This digital key can be shared with up to two people, so that they can use the car without taking the original key from you. 

The car is provided with infinity music system and the same can be controlled through this infotainment screen. It comes with eight speaker and tweeter combination.

Mobile charging sockets and a wireless mobile charging pad are provided at the front. All doors are provided with bottle holders. You get two cup holders at the centre console and two on the center arm rest at the rear also another two more are provided for the third row passengers. 

The seats of the car is well cushioned, front seats of the Hector are ventilated seats. The Hector is available in 5,6 & 7 seats variants.

The six seat variant comes with middle row captain seats, which are really comfortable. But the third row seats are ideally fit for small children as there is lack of legroom and under thigh support for adults to sit comfortably in this third row seats.

The Hector is a very spacious vehicle and you can feel that inside, but what makes it more spacious and premium is its electrically operated panoramic sunroof. This sunroof making the cabin more airy and makes you feel that you are in a very  spacious and comfortable luxury vehicle. You can operate the sunroof with voice commands too.

Drivability and riding comfort

Hector comes  with two engine options. 

• 1.5 Liter Turbocharged Intercooled Petrol engine 
• 2.0 Liter Turbocharged Diesel engine.

Both are very powerful engines and both of them are coupled with 6 Speed Manual gear box. However the 6 Speed CVT Automatic is available only with the 1.5 Liter petrol engine option. The engine works well with both CVT and Manual transmission options.

Three drive modes-Eco, Normal and Sports are given, so you can choose the ideal drive mode as per the requirement.

You can adjust the driver seat and steering wheel for appropriate driving position. The high driving position gives excellent outside visibility. The car feels very smooth on highways and feels very assuring even on the rough roads. Its well tuned  suspension together with the well cushioned seats masks all the rough road conditions pretty well and ensures a good ride comfort.

Safety Features

When come to safety, the MG Hector is a well built car and having lot of active and passive safety features including the ADAS level 2 features in the top end model SAVVY Pro.

The car comes with six Airbags, ABS, EBD,High speed alert, 360 Degree camera, Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror, TPMS(Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Disc Brakes on all Four Wheels and many more.
