Tata Motors is revolutionizing Indian EV market with its affordable and advanced range of Electric Vehicles. Recently the company has launched its most affordable EV-Tiago. Price of the car starts at Rs. 8.5 Lakh for the base variant and goes upto Rs. 13 Lakh for the range toping model. Tiago EV available in 19.2kWh and 24kWh battery packs with maximum claimed range of 275km and 315km respectively.
From exterior, it looks similar to the regular Tiago except some minor changes like closed grille and blue inserts.
The car is provided with projector headlamps and LED DRLs. The headlamps having follow me home function. Fog lamps are provided on the bumper. It is a nice car from front angle.
From sides it is a bold car. Door handles are provided in body colour with piano black inserts. Electrically foldable ORVMs are provided with turn indicators. It has a ground clearance of 166mm.
The 14 inch wheels with its carefully designed caps looks nice. Alloy wheels are not provided in the Tiago EV.
At the rear you can find a well designed electrically operated tailgate. Tata logo and Tiago badging are evident. Tail lamps are looking good. A spoiler with stop lamp are available. A rear wiper with demister provided will be very helpful in rainy and misty conditions. Tiago EV don't get spare tire in the boot, instead it is provided with a Tire puncture kit, thus saved 240 liters of luggage space in the boot.
Tiago EV having a nice and well crafted interior. It has a very bright cabin. Seats are well cushioned. Driver seat height can be adjusted manually. Even the underthigh support of the rear seat is also very good.
On the dashboard you can see a nice 17.78 cm infotainment system. It can support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
360-Degree camera and the 8 speaker Harman Music system are integrated with this system. The Driver side display is also very clear. The steering wheel have tilt function. Radio telephony and cruise control switches are provided on the steering wheel.
In the place of a regular gear lever a rotary knob is provided with Neutral, Drive, Sports and Reverse modes.
The car comes with a wireless mobile charger, a USB charger and two 12V chargers at front, however there is no A/c vents and charging sockets are provided for the rear seat passengers.
At the storage front, there is a decent space inside the glove box, which is a cooled one. All doors are provided with small bottle holders. Apart from this, a bottle holder is also provided at the back of the center console for rear passengers.
The vehicle is available in Medium range and Long range variants. The medium range variant having 19.2kWh and the Long range variant equipped with 24kWh battery. Like the Nexon EV this car also comes with Regenerative braking system to enhance the range efficiency.
The 24kWh battery pack of the long range version of the car shells out 55kW power and 114Nm Toque. Whereas the 19.2kWh battery pack of the Medium range variant produces 45kW power and 110Nm Torque.
The Medium range variant of the car can clock 0 to 100kmph in 6.2 sec. at the same time the Long range variant makes it in 5.7sec. Thus, both are very powerful and quick variants.
When come to charging, both the Long and Medium range Tigor EVs can be charged in just 52min. from 10%-80% with the DC fast charger.
With the 7.2kW A/c home charger the Medium range vehicle can be charged from 10%-100% in 2.6 hours but the Long range variant will take 3.6 hours to get charged.
With 3.3kW Wall Box charger the Medium range variant will take 5.1 hours to get charge from 10%-100%. At the same time the Long range variant will get charged in 6.4 hours.
The Tiago EV also can be charged with a 15A portable charger. By plug in to the 15A socket the Medium range variant will charge from 10%-100% in 6.9 hours. At the same time the Long range variant get charged in 8.7 hours.

At the safety front, it belongs to the regular Tiago platform, which has scored 4 stars in GNCAP crash test in Adult safety. So it is a tough built car.
Moreover, it comes with several safety packs like, two airbags,ABS with EBD, Reverse camera with dynamic guide lines, Tire Pressure Monitoring system, IP 67 Battery pack etc.
To conclude, Tiago EV is a tough built car. It is an affordable EV to most of the middle class family. Its compact design, reasonable range and the 166mm ground clearance are making it a perfect companion in your daily drives.
