VW TAIGUN

Taigun is a nice and bold crossover from the the house of Volkswagen. It looks stylish and sporty and it is one of the safest vehicle in the segment. It has scored full 5 stars in the GNCAP crash test ratings in Adult and Child occupant safety. The price of the car starts at Rs.11.56 Lakh and goes up to Rs.18.71 Lakh Ex-showroom.

As always, VW cars are excellent with its looks and build quality and Taigun is no different. It comes with a bold grille, LED headlights and DRLs. 

VW logo and GT badging are placed on the grille, fog lamps are beautifully provided at the bottom of the bumper. Muscular bonnet and skid plate along with the bold grille are making it bold from front.

You can see the nice and beautiful 17 inch alloy wheels from the sides. It has a wheelbase of 2651mm, which is making it spacious from inside. Black claddings on the wheel arches and on the doors are making it bold. Electrically foldable ORVMs are provided with turn indicators. Door handles are finished in chrome and roofrails provided on the Taigun are enhancing its overall styling from  sides.

At the rear you can see the smoked tail lamps and long LED strip,which is joining from one end to the other looks nice with the  Taigun. You can see VW logo, Taigun and GT badging on the tail gate. High mounted LED stop lamp and rear wiper are also made  available. The rear bumper having some chrome garnish and it looks good with  two reflectors. Apart from all these the car looks attractive with the spoiler, sharkfin antenna and the aluminium finished skid plate. 

When come to the boot space, it is having a decent 385 litres of boot space, it can be maximised by folding the 60:40 rear split seats.

By entering into the car you will find a beautiful touch screen infotainment  system on the beautifully crafted  dual tone dashboard. 

This touch screen system is integrated with AndroidAuto and AppleCarplay.  360 Degree camera is also integrated with this system. 

Full digital climatronic A/c control panels are provided. The Taigun having Red ambient lighting in the GT variant whereas the Topline variant comes with White ambient lighting. 

At the driver side you will get an 8 inch digital display (Analog in the lower variants). Driver can access various vehicle related information from this system with ease.

A nice and beautiful flat bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters are also available. Cruise control and volume control switches are provided on the steering wheel.

At the storage front you will get a cooled glove box and two cup-holders on the centre console. There is a storage space under the centre arm rest. All four doors are provided with bottle holders. 2 USB chargers and a 12V charging socket with wireless mobile charger are also provided with this car. 

You will get good and comfortable seats at front. Driver seat can be adjusted manually. The lower variants of the Taigun comes with ventilated front seats but is not provided on the GT variants. The electrically operated sunroof is making the cabin much more airy.

Although the rear seat can adjust three people but is ideally good and comfortable for two adults in the long journeys. Three adjustable headrests are provided. A centre arm rest with two cup holders are also made available in the Taigun. A/c vents and two USB charging sockets are also provided for rear passengers.

Taigun having a 6 speaker music system, which provides good sound quality.

When come to drivability, the Taigun is available in two engine and three transmission options. 

• 999cc 3-Cylinder 1.0L TSI Engine with 6-speed manual gearbox, &
• 999cc 3-Cylinder 1.0L TSI Engine with 6-speed Torque converter Automatic gear box.

• 1498cc 4-Cylinder 1.5L TSI Evo Engine with 6-speed manual gearbox, &
• 1498cc 4-Cylinder 1.5L TSI Evo Engine with 7-speed DSG gearbox.

Both engines with all the gear box options will give you an excellent driving experience. However, the 7 speed DSG with the 1.5 liter engine is the absolute star with the Taigun. Gear shifts will take place in milli seconds and are silky smooth & effortless with the DSG.  You will get a good driving experience with this engine and gear box combination. Moreover the paddle shifters will make the driving more exciting. 

The car comes with well tuned suspension set up and it also has minimal body roll. It feels more planted at highways on higher speeds.

The 1.5 liter engine comes with Active Cylinder Technology, which helps the car to get maximum mileage by shutting down two cylinders out of four while on comfortable cruise on highways. It is a nice feature, the same technology is available in Skoda Kushaq, VW Virtus and Skoda Slavia.

At the safety front the car comes with two airbags as standard and the top variants are provided with six air bags. As mentioned at the beginning, it is one of the safest car with 5 star rating by G-NCAP in adult and child occupant safety.

Moreover the car comes with 40+ safety features, some of them are ABS with EBD,ESC, Hill start assist, Auto-dimming rear view mirror, Rain sensing wipers, 360 degree camera, parking sensors, vehicle tracking, Valet mode and many more.

To conclude, Taigun is a well engineered car with all the safety features, good riding comfort and excellent driving dynamics. Definitely you can consider this vehicle if in search of a crossover or SUV in its price range.
