Mercedes Benz EQS 580

Finally Mercedes has launched its electric S-Class in India. Now it is sleeker and so more aerodynamic with the drag coefficient of 0.20, which is the best than any sedan available in the world and so it boasts the longest range of 857km under standard testing conditions, which is greater than any EV available at present in India. EQS comes with flush door handles and frameless doors. It has a long slopping bonnet. As it is an electric car, the grille portion is covered with a black element at the front. Mercedes logo is beautifully placed on it.

Once come to the sides, we can feel the length and long wheel base of the EQS. Beautiful  20 inch alloy wheels are enhancing its beauty from the sides. We can see that aerodynamic nature of the car from sides too.

The car looks very attractive from its rear also. It has beautiful LED tail lamps and a long LED strip which joins from one LED lamp to the other looks nice with EQS. It also houses a very large boot space, and the vehicle charging socket is provided inside the boot.

By entering into the cabin, you will be welcomed with the very well crafted interiors. Front seats are ventilated with massaging functions. Driver seat having  memory function too. There is a massive MBUX hyper screen on the dashboard. You can set various options of the EQS from these screens. 64 modes of ambient lighting is provided. The car is provided with 15 speaker Burmester sound system, which is the best in the world. Large electrically operated panoramic sun-roof is also provided.

As it is an S-Class EV, the rear seat comfort is also excellent. But it is not at par with the comfort level of the regular S-Class, but the rear seat of the EQS is also spacious and comfortable. 

The cabin is well insulated with sound damping materials, moreover it is an EV and so the cabin of the EQS is super silent, the only thing which creeps inside is the tyre noise. It is a very luxury and a relaxing place.

The car comes with ADAS 2 features and so it possess everal active and passive safety systems. EQS having 9 airbags as standard. Drowsiness alert, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring system, auto headlamps, 360 degree camera,emergency braking are only few of the safety features of this car.

The EQS 580 is the first luxury EV in India which is totally assembled on its dedicated EV platform. 107.8kWh battery pack is powering two electric motors, each one is placed at front and rear axles. Max. Power output is 516PS at 855Nm Torque. The car flashes  0 to 100kmph in 4.3 sec. in the sports mode,however the top speed is limited to 210km/h to maximize the range. The first 200 cars will be provided with rear axle steering system, which makes it to steer the car with lower turning radius. 

Even though it vanishes the range anxiety associated with the EVs and promising a longer range, you have to be cautious while driving it on our roads. Mercedes have provided only 124mm ground clearance to the EQS, but his can be raised to 25mm more whenever required. One interesting factor is that you can geo-tag the humps and potholes or broken roads by its satellite navigation system, so that the car can adjust the ride height itself whenever you are approaching at that particular point on your next trip.

Whether it comes to luxury, styling, performance, sportiness , safety and also with its long range capability, it is a super car in all sense and it costs Rs.1.55 crore, which is less than the regular S-Class too. Definitely you can check this vehicle if in consideration of a luxury electric vehicle of this price range.
