Renault Kiger is a well known Compact SUV from Renault. It is the car which is designed and manufactured in India for Indian customers. Renault is exporting this car to Indonesia and South Africa from India. The Ex-showroom price of the car starts at Rs. 5.84 lakh for the base variant and goes up to Rs.10.63 lakh for the top RXZ CVT Dual tone variant .Here we are discussing about this top variant. Recently the car got some minor updates.Let's look into details.
EXTERIOR
From the front, the car looks very bold. It is having a muscular bonnet and chrome front grille. Renault logo is beautifully placed on the grille. LED head lights and DRLs looking beautiful and the addition of aluminium finished skid plate is making it a really nice SUV from the front.
When come to sides, the car looks nice by the new sporty decals and red inserts on the 16" dual tone alloy wheels. Door handles are in piano Black finish, rear view mirrors are also finished in black and turn indicators are provided on them. The roof rails, Shark-finn antenna and the 205mm ground clearance are making the car bold from sides.

The rear side of the Kiger is very neat and clean. Renault logo and Kiger badging can be seen easily. LED Tail lamps are in C shape. There is an integrated sporty spoiler with high stop lamp.A rear wiper is provided. The car having a very thick rear bumper with skid-plate, which enhances it's SUV stance. A chrome insert provided at the bottom of the tail gate looks nice.

When comes to boot, this compact SUV have 405 litres of boot capacity and this can be enhanced to 879litres by folding the 60:40 rear split seats. With all these, it is a perfect SUV from the rear.
INTERIOR
Even though the Kiger is a compact SUV, it features a premium interior. It has well contoured front seats. The driver seat height can be adjusted manually. You can see the red stitching on the seat upholstery, gear lever,steering wheel and on the sliding arm rest.

It has a very beautiful dash board. There is an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system which can support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Start/stop switch is also provided in the Kiger.
At the driver side you will get a flat bottom leather wrapped steering wheel. Cruise control and radio telephony switches are provided on it. The Steering having tilt function too. A beautiful 7-inch TFT screen on the driver side providing lot of vehicle and driving related information to the driver.
Wireless mobile charging pad and a USB charging point are available at the front. A mobile phone shelf is provided below the touch screen system. A/c control panels are looking nice. The touch and feel of these controls are also very good.
The car comes with an excellent ARKAMYS tuned 4 speaker + 4 Tweeter 3D surround sound music system to entertain you on your highway trips. Another cool feature is the PM2.5 clean air filter(advanced atmospheric particulate filter), which makes the cabin environment fresh and healthy.

When comes to cabin storage, you will get 29liters of cabin storage volume. There are two glove boxes which provides about 20 litres of storage space together. The lower glove box is a cooled glove box.

Bottle holders are provided on all four doors.There are storage space under the front arm-rest and cup holders are provided on the center console.
When come to the rear seat, you will get decent head room and leg room. As per Renault there is 222mm knee room available at the rear seat. As the window lines are low, you will get excellent outside visibility too.
Seats are well cushioned and having good under thigh support. Two adjustable headrests are provided. There is an arm rest with two cup holders and a mobile phone holder. Two A/c vents and a 12V socket are provided for rear passengers. Floor board is almost flat which is good for the middle passenger but this seat is ideal for two people to sit comfortably in long journeys.
DRIVABILITY
The 999CC 1-litre Turbo-Petrol engine produces maximum power of 100PS@5000RPM and maximum torque of 152NM@2200-4400RPM. It is mated with a 5 speed CVT and manual gear boxes. The car feels peppy in both gear box options.
When come to CVT, it is well tuned with this engine, so the typical rubber band effect of the CVT is very minimal in the Kiger.

The Kiger having a Drive mode selector knob with three drive modes namely-Normal, Eco and Sports modes. You can select the desired mode by rotating the knob. The throttle and steering response will change according to the drive modes.
In the Eco mode the car feels lazy and sluggish but it is the ideal mode to get maximum mileage from the car.
Whereas, the Normal mode is the ideal one that can be used for your daily city commute.
In the Sports mode the car get aggressive and it responds quick to the throttle inputs and give you a sporty driving feel. But definitely you have to compromise with the mileage in this mode.
Mileage: Kiger CVT claims 18.24km/litre whereas the manual Turbo variant gets 20km/litre. In the real world we can expect between 11-15km on both CVT and Manual variants.
RIDE AND HANDLING
Kiger provides a comfortable ride quality with its good suspension set up. Because of its high ground clearance and taller stance we get excellent outside visibility, which makes the city driving much more easier. It can handle large potholes and undulated roads comfortably. Body roll inside the car is very minimal.
SAFETY
The Kiger is loaded with several safety features. It comes with four airbags, ABS, EBD, Rear Parking sensor and camera, speed sensing auto door lock etc.But we miss some important features like Hill-hold assist and ESP. The build quality of the car is very good, moreover it is a 4 star rated vehicle by the GNCAP.
CONCLUSION
It is a perfect compact SUV for a family of four people. It is muscular, stylish and a handsome SUV. It's responsive engine and CVT gear box option will make your daily city driving much easier. Moreover it is one of the safest vehicle in its segment. It's 4 star rating in the GNCAP crash test will give you an extra confidence whenever you are in the Kiger. Definitely you can consider the Kiger if your are in search of a compact SUV.
The Kiger is mainly competing with the likes of some hot selling Sub-four meter compact SUVs like Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Citroen C3 and Tata Punch.
