MAGNITE is the race horse of Nissan in India. Nissan introduced this car after conducting a survey among Indian youngsters to know about their requirement & aspirations and prioritised it while designing the Magnite and it worked! The youth of India embraced it than any other vehicle that ever introduced by Nissan in Indian market. Undoubtedly, it is a beautiful,youthful and an energetic compact SUV. Let's dive into the details.
EXTERIOR
From the front, the car looks attractive by its unique design. The grille which has a resemblance to the old Datsun vehicle but it looks nice in Magnite. Sleek head lamps with LED indicators are well positioned. L-shaped LED DRLs and fog lamps making the car more attractive. Muscular design of the bonnet is giving it an SUV style from the front.
From the sides, we can immediately notice the large claddings on wheel arches. 16" Diamond cut alloy wheels are enhancing the beauty of the car. Nissan magnite badging is provided on both sides near ORVMs. ORVMs are black coloured with turn indicators on them. Door handles are in chrome finish. A chrome belt line flowing from the front window to the rear gives it a premium look. Magnite comes with functional roof-rails which can bear weight up to 50Kg. The 205mm ground clearance is evident from sides. In short it is having a perfect SUV stance from sides.
Magnite is also very unique from the rear also.Nissan and Magnite badging are prominently placed. LED tail lamps are looking nice. It has a 336 liter of boot space. Spare tyre is provided in it. Rear integrated spoiler with stop lamps and the thick bumper with skid plate enhancing its SUV look from back. Overall it is futuristic and youthful from rear.
INTERIOR
It has a spacious interior. 2500mm wheel base of the car is well utilized in it. It has black themed interior.
By entering into the cabin you can feel the uniqueness of the Magnite. Front A/c vents are very stylish. Seats are well cushioned and comfortable. It is a mix of fabric and synthetic leather.

There is an 8 inch touch screen infotainment system which supports wireless Android-auto and AppleCarplay. 360 Dgree camera is integrated to this system. You can connect your smart watch with this system with Nissan Cannect connectivity features.
The TFT Meter console at the driver side looks very beautiful. It is a very clear full digital meter console with graphics. Several vehicle related information like Distance to empty,Tyre pressure monitoring,gear position,fuel history etc can be accessed from it.

The flat bottom steering wheel is wrapped in leather looks very premium. It is having manual tilt-adjust function. Wireless telephony and cruise control switches are provided on it. There is no paddle-shifters on it.
With an optional Tech Pack option you can opt several additional features like wireless mobile charging, ambient lighting, Air purifier, puddle lamp, JBL music system etc at extra cost. The car comes with start/stop switch on higer variants. A/c controls and other buttons are well placed for easy access.
The car is spacious and so it has lot of storage spaces too. There are bottle holders on all doors. Two cup holders are provided at the front console. Very useful 10 liter of storage space is available in the Glove box. A USB Ccharging socket and a 12V charger is provided at front.There is 2 cup holders and a mobile holder are provided at the rear centre-arm rest.
Both front and back seats of the car are very comfortable. There is good leg room and thigh support at rear seat. Floor board is almost flat so the middle passenger can sit comfortably. Although there are only two head rests are provided at the back seat. A/c vent and 2 charging sockets (1 USB and a 12V) are also provided for rear passengers. But the back seat is ideal for two adults and for a child. A rear parcel tray is also provided.
DRIVABILITY
The Magnite available in two engine options. One is 1 litter naturally aspirated petrol and the other is 1 liter Turbo-Petrol variant. Both are 3 cylinder 999cc engines.
The turbo variant is available in both Manual and CVT automatic gear options. The naturally aspirated engine produces max. Power of 72BHP@6250RPM and Max. Torque of 96Nm@3500RPM. Whereas the Turbo-petrol variant produces max.power of 98BHP@5000RPM and Max.Torqe of 160Nm@2800-3600RPM for manual variant and a slightly less torque of 152Nm in CVT automatic variant. The car feels sluggish under 1800RPM. But it responds well over the 1800RPM range.
The car having a good driving position. You can easily find the ideal driving position by manually adjusting the driver seat and steering wheel. Steering wheel is well weighted. Having good straight line stability and good suspension. Sport mode is available in CVT variant for an engaging drive. Disc brakes are provided at front and drum brakes are provided at the rear for efficient braking. Apart from this the car comes with brake assist feature.
It's compact shape and CVT gear box are ideal for city drives. But those who love manual, you will get a nice and smooth gear box which will give an engaging drive.
At the performance front, while the Turbo manual claims 0-100km in 11.16 Sec. the CVT Claims it in 12.8 sec. This make Turbo CVT the ideal variant to choose for your daily city and highway drives.
Although the vehicle claims 18-20km fuel efficiency on its variants, in real world you can expect between 15-18km.
SAFETY
Magnite is a four star rated car by GNCAP.
Two Airbags, ABS,EBD,Parking sensors are provided standard across all variants. Whereas features like 360 Degree camera, TPMS, Brake Assist, Hill hold assist(in automatic variant) are available with higher variants.
PRICE
The price of the Magnite starts at Rs.5.97 Lakh for the base variant XE and goes up to Rs.10.80 Lakh Ex.showroom for the range topping Turbo CVT DT premium optional.
CONCLUSION
The reasonable pricing, Futuristic design, spacious compartment, a good automatic variant, Turbo engine and advanced safety features etc are making this car a perfect Compact family SUV. It is a perfect city commuter and also a Highway cruiser too.
